The firing regulations “FeuV (§ 4 Installation of fireplaces)” stipulate: “If a room air-dependent fireplace (e.g. gas boiler, charcoal stove) and exhaust air fans (e.g. extractor hood) are operated simultaneously in an apartment/house, it must be ensured that no carbon monoxide is extracted from the fireplace. As soon as an exhaust air system is switched on, a negative pressure is created in the closed room. Pressure equalization may then only take place via the inflow of fresh air from outside and not via the fireplace.”
